Frequently Asked Questions About Korean-Style Permanent Makeup

Q

How is Korean-style permanent makeup different from regular permanent makeup?

A

Korean-style permanent makeup is characterized by its emphasis on a natural finish that doesn’t look out of place even when you’re not wearing makeup. At YAYOI CLINIC, we use a hand-tattooing technique to apply pigment, creating a gradient on the lips that appears to blend from the inside out and a hairline that mimics the natural flow of hair.

Q

What kinds of treatments are available with Korean-style permanent makeup?

A

At YAYOI CLINIC, we offer “Korean-style gradient lips” and “Korean-style hairline treatments.” Our lip treatments aim to create a natural, rosy glow, while our hairline treatments are designed to refine the hairline and M-shaped areas, resulting in a natural-looking finish around the face.

Q

What does a Korean-style gradient lip look like?

A

The Korean-style gradient lip look features a darker shade on the inner part of the lips that gradually fades to a soft, lighter shade toward the outer edges.

Even as the color fades over time, it tends not to linger only on the outer edges, allowing you to achieve a natural, healthy glow that blends seamlessly with your bare skin.

Q

Can the Korean-style hairline be applied to areas with thinning hair or an M-shaped receding hairline?

A

Yes. The Korean-style hairline treatment can also address the hairline, the M-shaped area, and any thinning hair that concerns you.

Each strand of hair is hand-drawn to follow its natural direction, creating a natural-looking hairline while also helping to give the face a sleeker, more defined appearance.

Q

How many sessions are required for Korean-style permanent makeup?

A

At YAYOI CLINIC, Korean-style permanent makeup typically requires two sessions.

You’ll receive your second treatment at least four weeks after the first, and we’ll work toward achieving your ideal look while monitoring how well the pigment has set.

Q

How long is the downtime for Korean style art make-up?

A

For Korean-style permanent makeup, the downtime is generally about one week for both lips and the hairline.

Skin peeling and dryness may occur, but in most cases, these symptoms do not significantly interfere with daily life.

Q

What should I be careful about after getting Korean-style permanent makeup?

A

After your treatment, avoid friction, sun exposure, and strenuous exercise that causes you to sweat for about a week.

For the hairline treatment, avoid getting it wet for 24 hours, and for the gradient lip treatment, be careful to prevent food or drinks from coming into direct contact with your lips on the day of the procedure.

Q

Is there anything I need to do to prepare before doing a Korean-style gradient lip?

A

Since the treatment may not be possible if your lips are dry, it’s important to moisturize them regularly starting 7 days before the appointment.

Since we’ll base the design on your usual makeup look, you can come to the clinic wearing your usual makeup on the day of your appointment.

Q

Is it possible to experience swelling or skin problems with Korean-style permanent makeup?

A

Temporary swelling, bleeding, inflammation, bruising, redness, and scabbing may occur.

In addition, herpes, infections, uneven skin tone, fading, and discoloration may also occur.

Q

How much does Korean-style permanent makeup cost?

A

At YAYOI CLINIC in Hiroshima, a two-session package for Korean-style gradient lips costs 123,000 yen.

The prices for the Korean-style hairline are as follows: 99,000 yen for a two-session M-shaped treatment on both sides, 88,000 yen per area, and 176,000 yen for the forehead. Please check the “Pricing” page for the most up-to-date rates.
