Skin Care Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Is there a difference between Korean skin management and Japanese skin management?

A

There is no significant difference between skincare practices in South Korea and Japan in terms of the basic concept of receiving regular skincare treatments at a cosmetic clinic. The practices that have become widespread in South Korea are also being adopted in Japan. At YAYOI CLINIC, we combine cosmetic medical treatments—typically once a month—with at-home care to provide ongoing care tailored to your skin’s condition.

Q

What should I do for my skincare routine after a facial treatment?

A

For post-treatment skincare, please follow the instructions provided by your doctor or nurse based on the specific procedure you received. At YAYOI CLINIC, we may recommend the use of medical-grade skincare products or prescription medications depending on the treatment. Since the precautions to take on the day of your treatment vary by procedure, be sure to confirm which products to use and how to care for your skin before heading home.

Q

Is there a specific order in which you receive your skincare treatments?

A

There is no one-size-fits-all sequence for skin care treatments. At YAYOI CLINIC, we do not automatically decide to use laser treatment just because a patient has dark spots; instead, we determine the optimal sequence based on both the patient’s ideal skin condition and their current skin condition. After a doctor’s consultation to understand the patient’s concerns and treatment goals, we propose a plan that combines in-clinic treatments with at-home care.

Q

How often do you get a facial?

A

At YAYOI CLINIC, we recommend a skincare regimen based on monthly treatments. While you continue your at-home skincare routine, we assess your skin’s condition and tailor a treatment plan to help you achieve your ideal skin. However, you don’t necessarily have to receive the same treatment every month; we can discuss a treatment schedule tailored to your specific treatment choices and skin concerns.

Q

What is the Personalized Skin Care Plan®?

A

The Personalized Skin Care Plan® is a skin care program offered by YAYOI CLINIC for a fixed monthly fee. A doctor will recommend treatments based on your skin condition, goals, and budget, combining laser therapy, light therapy, chemical peels, and other procedures. The plan also includes relaxing treatments and is ideal for those seeking ongoing care.

Q

If I want to treat specific skin concerns intensively, what kind of skincare regimen should I follow?

A

For those who want to address their skin concerns intensively, YAYOI CLINIC’s customized treatment is an option. Based on a recommended course of 6 sessions, a doctor will assess your skin condition and concerns—such as dark spots, enlarged pores, and acne—and select the appropriate treatments. Improvement is not guaranteed after 6 sessions; the combination of treatments and the number of sessions will be determined during your consultation.

Q

Do skin care treatments hurt?

A

The level of discomfort during skin treatments varies depending on the procedure. At YAYOI CLINIC, we take pain and anxiety into consideration by using topical anesthesia, nitrous oxide anesthesia, and vibrating “Bubble Pens,” depending on the treatment. Since not all treatments allow for the same measures, please ask about specific options during your consultation if you have any concerns.

Q

How long is the downtime for skin care treatments?

A

Downtime following skin treatments varies depending on the procedure you choose. For example, while Mesona J is described as having virtually no downtime, light-based treatments such as Cerec V may cause redness or hyperpigmentation. At YAYOI CLINIC, we provide aftercare instructions for each treatment, so please let us know in advance if you have any upcoming plans.

Q

How do skin care treatments at a clinic differ from those at a beauty salon?

A

A key feature of our clinic’s skin care program is that patients can choose aesthetic medical treatments based on a doctor’s consultation. At YAYOI CLINIC, in addition to surface-level skin care, we recommend treatments that target deeper layers depending on your specific concerns. We also offer soothing treatments performed by staff with experience at beauty salons, allowing you to select the options that best suit your desired skin condition.

Q

Even if this is my first time getting a skin treatment, can I come in for a consultation without committing to a specific treatment?

A

Even if you’re new to skincare, there’s no need to decide on a treatment plan in advance at YAYOI CLINIC. During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss your skin concerns and goals, and after a doctor examines your current skin condition, we’ll recommend a treatment plan. If you have concerns about pain or downtime, please let us know before selecting a treatment. For more details, please visit our “For First-Time Visitors” page.
