Botox Injections: Frequently Asked Questions

Q

What are the effects of Botox injections?

A

Botox injections can help relax muscle tension and reduce sweat and sebum secretion.

It is used to address a variety of concerns, including expression lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and at the corners of the eyes, as well as a square jawline, sagging along the jawline, stiff shoulders, tight calves, underarm sweating, enlarged pores, and excess sebum.

Q

Can I expect a slimmer face from jaw Botox?

A

Yes. By relaxing the tension in the masseter muscle—which causes prominent jawlines—you can achieve a sleeker, more defined jawline and a slimmer-looking face.

This treatment is also suitable for people whose jawline appears prominent due to teeth grinding or clenching.

Q

When do the effects of Botox injections start to be noticeable?

A

The effects begin to appear about 2 to 3 days after the treatment and reach their peak around 14 days later.

At YAYOI CLINIC, we assess your condition approximately 14 days after the procedure and consider additional injections if necessary.

Q

How long do the effects of Botox injections last?

A

The effects typically last about 4 to 6 months.

If you want to maintain the effects, we recommend getting a touch-up every 3 to 4 months.

Q

How many units of Botox are needed for an injection?

A

The number of units required varies depending on the injection site.

At YAYOI CLINIC, we generally use the following as a guideline: 6–10 units for the forehead, 6–10 units for the glabella, 6–12 units for the outer corners of the eyes, 20–80 units for the jawline, 40–100 units for the neck, 100–200 units for the shoulders, and 100–400 units for the calves. Since the dosage is adjusted based on muscle development, asymmetry, and your desired results, please check the “Botox Injections” page for more details.

Q

Do Botox injections hurt?

A

Although you may feel some pain from the injection, at YAYOI CLINIC, we take your comfort into consideration during the procedure.

In addition to using medications containing anesthetics, we employ ultra-fine needles and cooling techniques to minimize pain during injections.

Q

Are there any precautions I should take after getting Botox injections?

A

You may wash your face, take a bath, and apply makeup starting on the day of your treatment.

After the procedure, please do not rub or apply pressure to the injection site. If you experience any concerning symptoms, please contact YAYOI CLINIC.

Q

Will my facial expressions look unnatural if I get Botox injections?

A

Depending on the injection site and dosage, the muscles may become overly active, resulting in unnatural facial expressions or localized weakness.

At YAYOI CLINIC, we carefully adjust the injection sites and volumes while observing facial muscle movements, facial expressions, and any asymmetry between the left and right sides.

Q

Are there any people who cannot receive Botox injections?

A

This treatment is not available for pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals with systemic neuromuscular disorders, or those with hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin products.

If you are currently taking any medications, have a pre-existing condition affecting your muscles or respiratory system, or are receiving botulinum toxin treatment at another medical facility, please inform your doctor in advance.

Q

How much do Botox injections cost?

A

Prices vary depending on the injection site, the product used, and the number of units.
