FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Sagging Under the Eyes and Dark Circles
What results can I expect from treatments for under-eye sagging and dark circles?
You can reduce puffiness, dark circles, and sagging under the eyes to achieve a refreshed, youthful-looking eye area.
Since the condition under the eyes varies from person to person, we will determine the most appropriate treatment—whether it involves removing the fat that causes puffiness or repositioning the fat—based on your individual needs.
What kinds of treatments are available for sagging skin and dark circles under the eyes?
At YAYOI CLINIC, we perform transconjunctival fat removal, the superficial Hamra procedure, the deep Hamra procedure, and lower eyelid lift surgery.
We examine puffiness or hollows under the eyes, as well as sagging skin, and determine the most appropriate treatment method based on each individual’s condition.
What is the difference between transconjunctival blepharoplasty and the reverse Hamra technique?
Transconjunctival fat removal is a procedure that removes the fat responsible for under-eye puffiness and shadows, while the Ura-Hamra method involves repositioning the fat into hollows and securing it in place.
The best method varies depending on the condition of the eye area—for example, if you're concerned not only about puffiness but also about hollows.
Can I have under-eye fat removal and fat grafting done at the same time?
Yes. If the hollows under the eyes remain noticeable even after fat removal, we may combine the procedure with fat grafting.
At YAYOI CLINIC, we also offer a procedure that combines transconjunctival fat removal with Condensed Rich Fat to achieve a smooth, natural-looking result from under the eyes to the Gorgon line.
How long is the downtime for under-eye sagging and dark circle removal?
Swelling and bruising usually subside within a few days to about a week.
With the anterior Hamra procedure or the posterior Hamra procedure, swelling and bruising may last for about 1 to 2 weeks, and it may take several months for the swelling and redness around the incision to subside.
Will removing dark circles under the eyes leave scars?
Whether or not scars form on the skin's surface depends on the treatment method.
Since transconjunctival blepharoplasty and the retro-Hamra procedure involve making an incision on the inner surface of the lower eyelid, there are no scars on the skin’s surface. In the anterior Hamra procedure and lower eyelid lift, an incision is made along the base of the lower lashes, but the scars become less noticeable over time.
When can I start wearing makeup after treatment for sagging skin and dark circles under the eyes?
For procedures that do not require suture removal, you can apply makeup starting the day after the procedure; for procedures that do require suture removal, you can apply makeup starting the day after the sutures are removed.
You may take a shower starting on the day of your treatment.
How long does it take to treat sagging skin and dark circles under the eyes?
The duration of the treatment varies depending on the type of treatment you receive.
As a general guideline, transconjunctival fat removal takes about 30 minutes, the superficial Hamra technique takes about 60 minutes, and the deep Hamra technique takes about 90 minutes; if fat grafting is performed in conjunction with these procedures, the procedure will take even longer.
What are the side effects and risks associated with treatments for under-eye sagging and dark circles?
After the procedure, you may experience bleeding, pain, swelling, edema, redness, itching, bruising, discomfort, or infection.
Since the severity and progression of symptoms vary from person to person, please contact YAYOI CLINIC if you experience any concerning symptoms after surgery.
