FAQ
Jaw Botox: Frequently Asked Questions
What is a jawline Botox treatment?
Jaw Botox is an injection treatment that works by suppressing the activity of the masseter muscle to smooth out a square jaw caused by muscle development and achieve a sharper jawline.
Who is a good candidate for jaw Botox?
Jaw Botox is ideal for people who are concerned about a square jaw caused by overdeveloped masseter muscles or who want to achieve a more defined jawline.
Why can jaw Botox help you achieve a slimmer face?
Jaw Botox is a procedure that targets the activity of the developed masseter muscle to reduce the prominence of the jaw caused by muscle tension. Since this procedure does not alter the bone structure itself, the most appropriate treatment varies depending on the cause of the jaw prominence.
How many units of jaw Botox do you get?
At YAYOI CLINIC, we offer jaw Botox treatments in 40-unit or 60-unit packages. The number of units required varies from person to person; our doctors will adjust the injection volume after assessing the condition of your masseter muscle and your facial features. Please refer to the “Price List” page or consult with us during your consultation for details.
Does jaw Botox hurt?
While Botox injections in the jawline can be painful, YAYOI CLINIC has adopted the “pain-free Botox” approach developed by BIANCA CLINIC and implements measures to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Anesthetic cream is also available for patients who request it.
When will I start to notice a difference from jaw Botox?
YAYOI CLINIC states that the effects of jawline Botox generally begin to appear about 2 to 3 days after treatment, with changes becoming noticeable around 14 days later, when the effects peak. The timing of these changes varies from person to person.
Can jaw Botox weaken my biting strength?
Since masseter Botox is a procedure that reduces the activity of the masseter muscle, depending on the dosage and the condition of the muscle, you may experience difficulty chewing or notice a change in your biting strength. At YAYOI CLINIC, we adjust the dosage after assessing the condition of your masseter muscle and your facial features, aiming for a natural-looking result.
Is it okay to exercise after getting Botox in my jawline?
On the day of your jaw Botox treatment, avoid activities that stimulate blood circulation—such as exercise and drinking alcohol—as well as massages that might irritate the treated area.
Is jaw Botox effective for teeth grinding and clenching?
Jaw Botox is expected to alleviate tension in the masseter muscle caused by teeth grinding and clenching by reducing the muscle’s activity. However, since there are various causes of teeth grinding and clenching, it is important to assess the symptoms and the condition of the masseter muscle before determining the appropriate treatment.
How long do the effects of jaw Botox last?
The duration of the effects of Botox injections in the jawline varies from person to person. At YAYOI CLINIC, we recommend the most suitable medication and treatment plan after assessing the treatment area, muscle mass, and frequency of treatments. We do not set a standard schedule for follow-up injections; instead, we determine the timing based on an evaluation of your condition.
